Site Santa Fe
Designed by SHoP Architects
Fabricated in partnership with UAP | Urban Art Projects
Idea
Inspired by patterns in Native American pottery and rugs, SHoP’s design for the exterior of SITE’s building is distinguished by metal cladding that unifies the existing building with planned new spaces. The new façade also introduces an innovative and distinctive form to the Railyard precinct.
Solution
Fabricated in aluminium, the cladding is comprised of a series of unique folded and perforated panels that when layered, create a dynamic moiré effect.
Utilising advanced manufacturing technologies, the perforation pattern was driven by computational design principles via in Grasshopper.
