American Copper Building
Designed by SHoP Architects
Fabricated in partnership with UAP | Urban Art Projects
Idea
SHoP’s iconic dual residential towers located in Manhattan’s Midtown neighbourhood have been designed to create a sense of relaxed luxury. Soring 25-foot-high timber feature walls frame each of the grand lobbies.
Solution
The lobby feature walls have been created using solid Douglas Fur timber members arrayed in subtle but complicated geometry.
Digital workflows were deployed to control manufacturing data, enabled CNC profiling of each unique timber-to-timber joint.
